Family Friendly Halloween in San Diego

If you’re looking for a not-so-spooky celebration, or a full-blown scare San Diego fall has NOT been cancelled! The weather is finally cooling down and these family friendly fall activities will keep you and your crew busy for the rest of the season!

Seaworld Spooktacular

This event is full of spooky surprises, fall fun and of course plenty of animals to visit! Costume kids can start their trick or treating off on the Candy Garden – find sweet treats while also keeping safe! Make sure to grab your treat bag at any merchandise store for $2.50. SeaWorld has recently reopened some of their indoor exhibits, including the SPOOKY Shark Encounter which these girls loved! SeaWorld is doing a lot to keep you safe, including requiring face coverings, checking temperatures before entry, reminding you to keep safe distance everywhere around the park, modified seating and hand washing stations everywhere.

The details:

  • Running every Friday-Sunday in October, from 9am-7pm!
  • FREE for Pass Members and Fun Cars Holders – but everyone must reserve online.
  • Adult tickets are $93.99, and kids are FREE with a full paid adult admission. Children under 3 do not require a ticket!

Haunted Aquarium Remix

We’ve been members and huge fans of the Birch Aquarium for years now, but this was our first time at their Haunted Aquarium! These two pumpkins loved it for sure. The aquarium has been turned into a spooky affair with new animal encounters, and activities geared towards children 2-10. Children – who are encouraged to dress up! – will receive a booklet upon entry that includes self-guided explorations, coloring pages and other activities.

The details:

  • They’ve also set up a cute haunted kelp maze outside which may or may not end with … a pumpkin getting eaten by a shark!
  • Haunted Aquarium Remix lasts all month long, from 9am-5pm!
  • The fun is included with regular admission, which is $19.50 for adults and $15 for kids 3-17. Children 2 and under are FREE!

Halloween in Miniland

This is a Halloween themed outdoor experience with dining, decor, fun character meet and greets and family activities at a safe distance. Make sure to check out the October Beer Garden for not only yummy local beers, but also an awesome view of Miniland! They have a few activities set up – but those lines form fast! Make sure to check them out and get in that line! The Pumpkin LEGO building looked like a blast but ya know.. toddlers + lines.

The details:

  • Open October 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, and 30-31!
  • Hours are Friday 3-7pm, Saturday 10am-2pm / 3pm-7pm, and Sunday 11am-3pm.
  • Tickets and reservations are required for all! Tickets run $15.99 for guests and play passes – $7.99 for annual pass holders. Children 2 and under don’t require an admission ticket!

Halloween Trail at Petco Park

Spooky festivities, trick-or-treating, and a Halloween themed pumpkin patch await you when you enter the park.

The details:

  • October 23-November 1
  • Admission starts at $25 for kids and $20 for adults
  • Make your reservation online! To ensure everyone’s safety, each timeslot is maxing out a 75 guests.

Harvest Walk at Belmont Park

Belmont park turns into an open-air market, featuring local craft beer and food! Free trick-or-treating and the areas BIGGEST pumpkins. This is a don’t miss event!

The details:

  • 10/24-11/14 Saturdays only from 11am-6pm
  • Free admission!
  • Every Saturday make sure to stop by the street magician from 2-4pm!
  • October 24th & 31st – free trick-or-treating!
  • Don’t miss the pie eating contest on Saturday the 7th and 14th.
